RUBY’S JOURNAL

Hi Everyone,
I am such a “lucky dog”! Most of the time? When I hear the water running in the workroom sink, I try to escape – but I always get caught! SO, I had my bath, got my nails clipped, brushed and dried with the hair dryer. (When it’s cold outside, I get dried with the hair dryer instead of going outside and run around until I’m dry.) My Vera Waggley bag was packed, and my food went in a bag? ROAD TRIP – it has been a long time since we went anyplace. (At least when I got to go!) I like to go on LONG road trips – I can take an uninterrupted nap!
We went to see Aunt Becky, Uncle Aveary and Pepper. Pepper was feeling better than she was this summer, but she still doesn’t play? She is getting too old to play. (She thinks I’m just a “young pup” that makes a fool of myself chasing toys?) I went for a walk in her neighborhood, boy was that full of “different” smells!.
When we left, Uncle Aveary called us into the family room. He knew we like to walk (in all kinds of weather), and he gave me a raincoat! I guess I complained before that I didn’t have one? Aunt Becky thinks I am “spoiled”, (how did I get that way?) but I think I am a “lucky dog”! Don’t I look good in yellow?
We have had a lot of rain lately, so this was a perfect time to get a “slicker” with a hood, and reflector tape around the edges. (Since the time change, Dad takes me for a walk early in the morning before daylight.)
Mom promised to take me to a “Petting Zoo”? (It was part of the Festival of Trees.) But it was raining – so she put on my slicker and we went anyway! (The animals in the Petting Zoo didn’t care it was raining?) Why would I want to GO to a Petting Zoo, I’m the one that wants to be petted! Mom has been on my case about barking at the animals on TV and she thought maybe if I saw some animals in person I wouldn’t bark at them any more? WELL, I walked toward the fence – WHOA – put on the brakes! I stopped and couldn’t go one more step. Those animals were SOOOO big, (I don’t know how they fit in the TV?) and I could smell them – I didn’t have to get any closer! This was my first experience seeing camels? I did get close to some of the goats, but Mom was holding me. Most of the small goats came over to the fence to check me out? They liked me better than I liked them! I had just about had enough – I started shaking, so Mom held me.
There were other people coming – and they wanted to pet ME! I met a woman and her daughter that has a Ruby Cavalier and she might be my sister? She came from a litter almost two years ago in Brutus?
Love and Kisses,
Ruby
