RUBY’S JOURNAL
Hi Everyone,
Hope you had a great week – or at least some of it!
Dad took me for a walk at the Civic Center and we met TWO BIG dogs coming toward us. Well you know how I feel when I see big dogs – which I don’t know? Dad was so proud of me when I didn’t start shaking and run for him to pick me up! He said “sit” and “wait”. Well, I figured what he was telling me was the safest thing to do. AND I did it! Boy was I surprised when the dogs walked by and just looked at me sitting there behaving myself, (shaking in my boots) and the guy walking the dogs said, now that’s what a “trained” dog should do? The BIG dogs just gave me an evil look – I knew they thought I was “showing off” – but it masked my shaking and fear. Maybe BIG dogs aren’t so scary after all?
Pepper came to visit for the weekend and we had a lot of playtime. Bailey came over to play with us too! After my class we called Bailey to come over again. Pepper and Bailey had so much fun. They ran all over the yard – but I had to stay behind the white flags!
That was the good part of the week – now the BAAD!
Uncle Aveary took me for a ride in his car. Dad knows better that to let me (or any dog) go for a car ride and not fasten me in a seatbelt or ride in a crate! The first part of the ride Dad held me on his lap, so I could see out the window. After a few times in and out of the car I laid on the floor between the seats. Dad thought I was taking a nap, but when Aunt Becky showed Mom where I was, Mom wanted to know what I was chewing on? I did a BAAD. I chewed Uncle Aveary’s GPS cord in half! Now, both Mom and Dad were mad at me! Guess that ends free range in the car for me!
I was watching the Super Bowl on TV, (it was really the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet) and I started barking at all of the dogs! Mom kept yelling at me to STOP! I couldn’t help it – all of those dogs in MY living room, it was just too much! It was Dad’s fault he didn’t change the channel – but I am the one that got punished – no TV for a week! When I go to Day Care I can bark at all of the big dogs – and no one yells at me? Mom thinks I am picking up bad habits at Day Care – but I have a lot of fun!
Next week I hope I have more good days than BAAD!
Love and Puppy Kisses,
Ruby
