RUBY’S JOURNAL 11-07-11
Hi Everyone,
SHE DID IT!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE SHE DID IT!! SHE DRESSED ME LIKE A TURKEY!! Well, it’s just a brown coat with a red collar, (but I don’t look good in red). Maybe she thinks I’m color blind? Contrary to what a lot of people think, dogs are not color blind, I don’t see just black, white and gray, just a different color range than humans. Maybe that’s why the “fence” guy put white flags in the yard? However, reds, greens and oranges are not distinguishable. So if Dad threw an orange ball onto the green grass, I would see yellow against yellow? I am just green-blind. Mom, thanks for the new coat, maybe I do look good in red?
I have been helping Dad clean-up the leaves and pine needles in the yard. I can find a pinecone under a pile of needles, but I can only move the needles one mouthful at a time! He doesn’t think much of my help, so when he can’t keep me from eating the pinecones and needles I have to go inside for a “time out”? When the wind is quite strong, it blows my ears back and Dad thinks that is funny? For some reason, my ears flopped back while I was waiting for an ice cube to drop out of the refrigerator the other night – and now it’s a new picture?
I went to my first “Basic Training” Class. Guess what – I can walk “under” all the dogs in the class. Even though they are all big dogs, I think they like to play with me? I don’t get the “side” command? When Dad takes me for walks, I “usually” walk on his side unless I’m sniffing everything along the way. My “sniffer” has been improving lately, I can sniff out a crumb under the cupboards that no one knew was there! A lady in the Class said she has her dog keep a ball in her mouth while walking to keep her on task? Mom thought that sounded like a good idea, so she gave me a small tennis ball to carry, (I think it is bright green?) BUT I look funny walking with a ball in my mouth! It squeaks when I get excited!
I went to Uncle Bob and Aunt Peg’s to show Bea my new coat, but Bea wasn’t home? It worked out great – Aunt Peg gave me some of Bea’s treats!
Mom and Dad had to go out of town for a day, so I went to Pam and Jon’s for some “day care”. Boy was that fun! I didn’t get much “nap” time, but I got a lot of “lap” time. Pam said I was a “good girl” and I could come back anytime!
Love and Puppy Kisses,
Ruby
